White Bathroom Tiles

Although most commonly seen these days incorporated in contract settings it is possible to use standard white bathroom tiles as part of a stylish, modern design.

Most contract tiles are 150mm x 150mm, the metric equivalent of the old six inch tiles. It is worth checking the tiles before buying as very cheap tiles sometimes have quality issues such as incomplete coverage of surface colour. Some feel that a white bathroom suite with white tiles can make the room look too sterile while others find the appearance clean and bright - at the end of the day it comes down to personal taste.

The following bathroom has used a large white tile for the decoration and has achieved a very bright, clean looking room as outlined above.

A vanity unit with a recessed bowl has been added to the room which, together with the bathroom cabinet will provide plenty of extra storage. A small stud wall has been created at the end of the bath which has then been tiled to keep the shower water off the vanity unit. By keeping this wall at half height it performs its function without cutting the room in half which would be the case if the wall was full height.

Grout can always prove to be a problem in bathrooms and this is especially so in rooms with white tiles as they will immediately highlight any discolouration caused by dirt or mould.
