Shower Cubicle Tray

Usually when you buy a shower cubicle the shower tray will be included in the price but this is not always the case and there may be situations where buying separately has its advantages.

If buying a "package deal" on a cubicle you will have little or no choice as to the type of tray offered. Many budget cubicle packages use cheap acrylic trays which can prove problematic if they are not sufficiently rigid to prevent movement which can then lead to leaks - see our page shower problems and solutions for further information

Good quality acrylic trays will have a solid baseboard and adjustable legs - similar in concept to an acrylic bath and usually have detachable panels that enable access to above ground pipework. Stone resin shower trays are very rigid but can require quite an involved installation process, especially if it has to be raised off the floor to enable pipework to be run underneath. They are also very heavy and large stone resin trays will need an extra pair of hands when it comes to installation.

In quadrant designs it is important that the shower cubicle tray and the enclosure are matched correctly as the radius of the curve is not standard and can vary from design to design. The current trend in shower design is toward lower and lower shower trays to the point where they are almost appear to be level with the floor. Many wet room manufacturers have come up with solutions that enable very low shower tray heights to be achieved which results in aesthetically pleasing designs that have a major benefit for the less able who might struggle to climb into a high lipped tray.
